If you are building a new home and are plannig on putting in a bay with doors - it is a good idea to make sure the tops of the windows on the sides line up with the tops of the door or doors. that way if you want to put any type of window coverings on the doors and the windows they will all line up, which if you are doing any type of valance in the entire area - it will look much nicer - Many builders do not think of this when putting in the windows in bay areas

Undecided as to what works best on doors (French type) standard door. In my opinion I believe you can do a shutter panel, a 2" blind with hold downs, or a cellular shade The advantage to the shutter is that there is no swinging motion when opening and closing the door and you have the option of closing or opening louvers The advantage of the 2" blind is that it is much cheaper than a shutter, however, there will be some swinging action when opening and closing the door - even though there will be hold down brackets at the bottom of the blind |

If you are considering purchasing shades for an area that is hard to reach - consider the remote controlled shades. You will not have long cords hanging down and you can program more than one to operate at the same time. Just remember that you will have to change out the batteries - depending on how often they are adjusted, usually about once a year or less. -I feel the cellular shades are the best for this type of application because when in the up position they have the smallest stack - and also are more energy efficient - (which can be quite significant when you have several windows in one area) Hope this helps. |

We feel the best option for a bathroom window is a cellular shade. I also would recommend a cordless option. because most shades are over the bath tub and hard to reach, a cordless option allows a much nicer appearance - and since it usually is in the closed position and not raised or lowered - the cordless has no cords showing in the closed position. Also, because other products in the closed position, create a dark atmosphere, the light filtering cellular shade lets you maintain light but still have complete privacy (check privacy option to make sure your selection is rated private) |
